What's the BEST Part about a Kitchen Remodel? Find Out HERE!

There are so many reasons as to why you may be considering remodeling your kitchen. You may not like the way your cabinets look. Maybe you wish they were painted versus wood. Or the stain just isn't quite the right color. Maybe the storage does not fit your lifestyle, or your cabinets are just outdated. Your flooring and backsplash might be outdated as well. While these are all very valid reasons for remodeling your kitchen, your favorite cabinet store at the Lake of the Ozarks has something you may not have thought about. The best part about remodeling your kitchen is it gives you the freedom to completely change the layout of your kitchen! Think about it, do you ever wish that your appliances were in a different location or the flow of your kitchen was set up differently? When you do a kitchen remodel, you have the freedom to change not only the appearance but also the functionality.

Location of Appliances

There should be some thought and consideration when it comes to the location of your appliances. Unfortunately, if you did not build your home, you had no say in where your appliances are. Sometimes, the original kitchen designers didn't think the layout through and you're stuck with a poor design.

When you consider changing the layout of your kitchen, the location of your appliances plays a big role in how user-friendly your kitchen is. Is your sink next to your dishwasher? How is the flow between your most used appliances- stove, sink, and refrigerator? Have you ever heard of the kitchen work triangle? This useful design tip is a concept that says your stove, sink, and refrigerator should form an imaginary triangle to allow for maximum efficiency called "the work triangle."

Walkways

You don't have complete control of your walkways due to the existing doorways and kitchen dimensions but often your walkways can be tweaked to be more efficient. Here are a few things to consider:
  • Traffic should not be directed right through your workspace, aka, your work triangle. If possible, traffic should be directed around the work area. A great way to direct traffic around the work area is the addition of an island.
  • Islands are great but if it impacts the width of your walkway, it might not be a good idea. Typically, you should have at least 36 inches of aisle space but 42 inches is ideal.

Cabinets

Of course, in addition to the layout, you also get to choose brand new cabinets for your kitchen remodel at the Lake of the Ozarks! Depending on what you are looking for, changing the layout of your kitchen also allows you to change the design of your cabinets. For example, you may want more cabinet space. A great way to do this is to add cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. Another great way to add more storage is the addition of a peninsula island. This will give your more cabinet room, walking space, and additional cabinets space all in one! The possibilities are endless when you get to start from scratch with your kitchen design.
