Cabinet Cleaning Tips

When you install new cabinets at the Lake of the Ozarks, you want to do everything you can to keep them in great condition. Even with normal use, your cabinets can get dirty quickly. To keep your cabinets in great condition it's a good idea to regularly clean them to keep them in great shape. Today, our cabinet company at the Lake of the Ozarks has some cleaning tips for keeping your cabinets in pristine condition!

How Often Should I Clean My Cabinets?

To keep your cabinets looking great, it's important to wipe off splatters, fingerprints, and other marks as they occur or at least on a bi-weekly basis. In addition to wiping off your cabinets frequently, you should do a deep clean on a seasonal basis. A few times a year, empty all of your cabinet and deep clean the inside and the outside of your cabinets.

How to Clean Common Cabinet Stains

Your kitchen is a well-used room in your home and will a busy schedule making meals and helping with homework, and your day to day schedule. Not sure what to use to clean your cabinets? Below is a breakdown of how to remove specific stains in your kitchen.

Fingerprints

The natural oils on our fingers can leave behind marks on our cabinet doors and knobs. Vinegar is a great solution for removing fingerprints and also a cost-effective solution. Simply create a vinegar and water solution and dampen a cloth to remove fingerprints.

Food Splatters

Food splatters are the most common occurrence that happens in the kitchen. From boiling over pots to spaghetti splatters, food splatters can't be avoided in the kitchen. For best results, it's import to wipe up food splatters right away and not let them soak into your cabinets. Wipe away food splatters with a damp cloth and if you notice a stain still in place, use a baking soda and water mixture to remove the rest.

Water Stains

Hard water is especially common here at the Lake of the Ozarks. If water splashes onto your cabinet, sometimes it will leave a water stain. If you know you have hard water in your home, the best way to avoid water stains is to use distilled water when you clean your cabinets. You may not realize it but the water stains on your cabinets could actually be from cleaning your cabinets!

Scuff Marks

If you notice a few scuff marks on your cabinets, don't fret because you can typically get them out. Scuffs can happen from shoes, chairs, or tables rubbing the sides of your cabinets. You can use a soft eraser and gently rub the effective area.

We hope that you found these tips helpful for keeping your cabinets clean!
