Kitchen Spring Cleaning Checklist!

Spring is here which means it’s time for some spring cleaning. If you’re spending more time at home, now may be the perfect time to tackle those spring cleaning projects. A great place to start is in your kitchen! The kitchen is the heart of your home and it’s easy for things to get disorganized and the nooks and crannies to get dirty over time. Why not dedicate one day this spring for a spring clean kitchen. Read on to get a kitchen spring clean checklist from our cabinet company at the Lake of the Ozarks.

1) Start with the Basic

Before you start with your deep spring clean, you should start with the basics. Clean your kitchen like you normally would and then start tackling the extra spring cleaning once the kitchen is initially cleaned.

  • Take out the trash
  • Wash any dirty dishes
  • Empty the dishwasher
  • Remove any clutter
  • Set up a box for rash items you find
  • Set up a box for items to sell or donate
  • Dust the tops of your cabinets

2) Draws

Once you’ve tackled the basics, it’s time to get to organizing and start your deep clean! A great place to start is with drawers. Over time, kitchen drawers get dirty and disorganized.
  • Pull everything out first
  • Sort into different piles - keep, trash, and donate/sell (This is where those boxes will come in handy!
  • Clean the inside and outside of the drawers
  • Place everything back into the drawers in a organized fashion

3) Cabinets

Next, move on to your cabinets. Just like your drawers, kitchen cabinets tend to get disorganized, dirty, and messy. If you have a lot of cabinets, working in sections may be less overwhelming.
  • Pull out everything from your cabinets
  • Sort your items into keep, trash, and sell/donate
  • Wipe out the inside of your cabinets
  • Wipe down the outside including knobs and any glass
  • Replace any dirty cabinet liners you may have
  • Put your items back in an organized fashion

4) Pantry

When was the last time you REALLY took a look at your pantry? Chances are it’s a little unorganized and you may even have expired canned goods and spices.
  • Pull everything out
  • Throw away any torn or expired items
  • Take the time to get some containers and transfer open items into storage containers
  • Wipe down shelves
  • Clean any organizers you have
  • Put everything back

5) Oven, Sink, Refrigerator, and Dishwasher

Give your appliances some extra attention during your spring clean. Wipe down all of your appliances inside and out! Soak your sink to make it bright again and run your dishwasher without anything in it. Pour some vinegar into the wash cycle to get it extra clean.
